Starting out at 40
They say that life begins at 40, for me more correctly my NEW life began at 40 - or at least just a few days later when my husband and I emigrated from the UK to Australia. Suddenly sun block became my new best
friend and my true obsession with skincare really kicked in.
Previously, I really hadn't looked after my skin. I was never a major sunbather but then I wore little or no sun block unless I was on holiday. I suffered dreadful sunburn many times. I never used moisturiser, never really wore make-up except for weddings and funerals, so I can't really complain or say life is unfair!
Within a few months of 40 I started surfing for skincare tips and found a wonderful
new world out there of DIY lotions and potions and some beauty tools that seem
proven to work.
There is another thing about me that I must confess - I am
tight! I could never understand why
someone would pay $100+ for a moisturiser that seemed to do nothing
special despite the justifying raves of its purchaser.
Sites like the Skin Doctor and
the Essential Day Spa - Skincare + DIY Forum pretty much backed up my view that
big $$ usually equal big marketing budgets and a splash of nice scent.
